Winter Wonderful!

Over the past few weeks, M.V. Beattie students have been taking advantage of the opportunities provided through our Winter Rec. program.  The primary grades have been making the trek to the arena to participate in a skating program, while the intermediate grades have been heading to SilverStar mountain (and Larch Hills) to Ski, Snowboard, Skate, Tube and play winter games.  None of these events take place without the organization and support of our teachers and parent volunteers – Thank You!

It is amazing to see how quickly the kids learn.  For some primary students, taking their first steps on the ice can be intimidating, but in short order they will begin to glide.  Snowboarders and skiers go from bunny hills to more challenging runs – yet regardless of their levels, smiles are plentiful.

Today was a great reminder of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world! Whether our students were looking at the views from atop SilverStar or squinting from the glint of sunshine coming from the snowcapped Enderby Cliffs – it was magical.  Trips like these are important. We need to get our kids outdoors, away from screens, and be reminded that sometimes all we need is a little bit of snow, some imagination and a group of friends to have a great time.
