Veterans Week

Students and staff at M.V. Beattie will be honouring Veterans Week November 8-10th.

On Monday, November 8th morning announcements will include information about Indigenous Veterans.

On Wednesday, November 10th, we will be making an announcement over the PA during which classes will participate in the singing of “O Canada,” followed by one minute of silence and the last post. Classroom teachers will show a PowerPoint Presentation featuring our grade 5/6 classes who worked hard this week to learn, recite, and record “In Flanders Fields.” This classroom presentation will also include individual student stories about family members who served in various wars. Also on November 10th, poppies will be provided to the students, a small donation will be welcomed and collected by classroom teachers.

Students throughout the school have been and will continue to be taking part in learning about the importance of Remembrance Day. Many classes have already worked to create artwork that shows their appreciation for Veterans throughout our community and Canada as a whole.
