On Friday, November 9th, our staff and students commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the very first Armistice Day. As a way to show their respect, our students decorated the gym with their artwork and poetry. Ashton and Ethan did a great job as our emcees; our MVB choir performed; Zamber and Robyn gave recognition to our local indigenous soldiers that fought in the war; Shayden presented a dreamcatcher/poppy wreath, and we were honoured to have John Shannon and Corey Skead from the Enderby branch of the Royal Canadian Legion share some words with our students. In typical fashion, our students showed exceptional behaviour during the assembly.
For our Canadian soldiers, both past and present, we make a solemn commitment to never take for granted the sacrifices that you have made for all of us.
We will remember them.
