As the summer winds down, our dedicated teachers have already begun the process of preparing their classrooms for the 2018-19 school year. I have been incredibly impressed with the commitment that they have shown to their future students, as our collective excitement builds for the opening day of school (September 4th).
As the new principal of M.V. Beattie, I have been overwhelmed by the kind words of support from both the staff and the community. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to stay in a community that I love, and I look forward to continuing relationships with the many families that have students at both MVB and A.L. Fortune. I am equally excited to renew relationships with my former A.L. Fortune graduates who are now parents of M.V. Beattie students…though this tends to make me feel slightly long in the tooth.
I would also like to welcome new families into the community. I appreciate the giant leap of faith it takes to bring your sons and daughters to a new school (or perhaps your first school) and entrust them to the staff. I can promise you that we will do our very best to help make that a smooth and successful transition.
M.V. Beattie is truly a community school, with a proud history. Our students receive great support from the community and have many opportunities to engage in meaningful learning activities – both inside and out of the classroom. I am confident that your children will soon consider it to be their “home away from home.”
Welcome To M.V. Beattie!
